SHOWKILLER FINAL REVIEW
WEEK 5:
Today was the last and final day of Fall League. With Pizza and B*** after the first game we attracted some of the areas finest players to watch the finals, Dan, Kelly, Palmer, Diana, and Jia (No Natalie I'm told).
Weather: Way to hot for December 78 degrees with a 8 mph wind from the East.
Results:
2:00 PM Games Semi’s
A Bracket Semi’s
#1 Purple (6-2) vs. #4 Green (5-3)
After a bye in the first round of the playoffs, Purple wanted to show it was no joke they were the #1 team taking on Green with Mimo, Schmitty, and Tom. Green had a rough start to their plan when Purple pulled out a nearly flawless zone with the ‘D’ man himself Joel playing deep in the zone. Green would capitalize on a few possessions lead by strong play from Kink and Pilgram but in the end would succumb to the Purple people eaters.
#2 Navy (6-2) vs. #3 Orange (5-3)
With Kyle and Lyle back for Navy this week they would look to put a stop to the Orange Crush and Ashton, Tim, Travis, Miguel, Marta etc.…. Wait a minute how did Orange end up with this team? With all the big names on Orange Crush Navy would look to the zone to help control Oranges explosiveness on offense. Only problem everyone on Orange can hammer which lead to easy scores for Orange. Navy had their chances but unforced errors let Orange get the early lead, and promptly enacted the Jay Blakadar strategem* Final Orange Crush over Navy.
*If you have the lead, defense is completely unnecessary. On offense, however, you must play well enough (at least) to receive the pull for the Universal point.
B Bracket Semi’s
#5 C. Blue (3-5) vs. #8 Grey (1-7)
Finally enough Grey players showed to play a game and make a run at the B Bracket. However, C.Blue had all their guys show as well including but limited to Dustin, Future, Nathan, and KJ. C Blue ran a four person cup zone against Grey which worked to perfection shutting down Grey early and allowing C. Blue to get the lead. Zen would make a controversial D over KJ (most likely a foul). Katie scored fairly often, including one over Allison which shut the lights out for Grey. Final Blades of Glory 12-5
#6 Red (3-5) vs. #7 Gold (3-5)
After singing the 12 days of Christmas to open the game, Red looked to put Gold down early. However, this wasn’t American Idol this was Ulitimate and Gold took full advantage of the Partridge in a Pair tree taking the early lead with great plays from Brandon and Switzer. After half, Red put up a Bah Hum Bug zone and came back to tie it at 10’s but Goldie Locks and Chloe made a D and ended Red’s dream of the B Bracket. Final 13-11 Goldie’s.
3:30 Games Finals
A Bracket Finals
Orange vs. Purple
After taking a short break to eat pizza and drink b***, we finally made it to the top 2 teams in the league going head to head. Purple would again choose to use their flawless zone D with Joel as the deep and Nate running the cup. It would cause slight problems in the beginning but Orange Crush looked to the handling of Tim and Travis to guide them through the Z. With great play from both teams it would go back and forth all game, but due to daylight the cap was called at 12. Orange would pull to Purple with the game tied at 11’s and out of no where Kristen drops the pull which gave Orange the disc on their goal line and we have a winner of Fall League ’07 Orange 12-11.
B Bracket Finals
C. Blue vs. Gold
C. Blue would look for much of the same zone to keep Switzer and Brandon under control. C. Blue took the lead early, but Goldie’s came back to make the score close again. However, with the main part of Gold’s offense on Lock Down C. Blue would capture the B Bracket and win disc’s for the whole team as predicted.
Thanks to everyone for coming out and making it one of the best Fall League’s I have been a part of. If there were awards to be given out here is who gets my votes:
Most Spirited: Gold Team
MVP: Miguel Palaviccini (Orange)
Best Dressed: Red Team with bells on their shoes
Most Artistic: Carolina Blue with Ponz drawing a sweet photo
See ya next time,
