SHOWKILLER WEEKLY REVIEW

Part 1 - 2pm games

WEEK 2:

All right, Week 2 is in the books. Some killer games that went the distance on Sunday. Everything is still wide open in the standings with any team being able to pull an upset.

Also, there is a secret society of elves that is keeping an eye on the teams. They’re called the Fall League Trade Commission, or FLTC. They’re the ones who find homes for those late joiners. So keep your toes and fingers crossed. They just might deliver a gift to your team before Playoffs.

On that note, everyone got a present today- their shirts. Ted and his Monter-pressers did a great job. If you missed out, don’t worry. The Czar and his able lieutenant promise to have them available next week as well.

With that said, the weather at game time was 74 degrees with a strong wind from the North. The wind made things interesting for everybody. Coincidentally, there was quite a bit of zone played. Never heard of it? Go here for a crash-course: Ultimate Handbook.

Showkiller’s stats for predictions for the season: 4 wins – 4 loses

2:00 PM Games

#5 Team 1 Orange (1-1) vs. #7 Team 8 Gold (1-1)

With 0-2 staring Team 8 in the face and after seeing their #7 ranking in the polls, Gold woke up and turned it on. The Orangies were missing Travis in this game, which opened the door and let Gold control the disc. Orange- with Ashton and Marta- made a brief rally, but a Kevin Switzer goal to goal hammer-huck brought a quick end to that. Final 9-7, Team Gold.

#6 Team 6 Gray (1-1) vs. #2 Team 7 Green (2-0)

Even though Green was missing a few of their players, they proved that they weren’t going to go far from the top of the poll. This game was a cataclysmic slug fest, with two Gray players (including Captain Bukata) going down injured. RJ and Alex were able to keep it close, but Kink's team answered with DZ and Pilgrim . At cap, a shirtless Jonathan and a shirted Nacho scrambled to get something going, but it was too little to late. Final 11-8, Team Mean Green Machine.

#1 Team 4 Navy (2-0) vs. #3 Team 5 Red (1-1)

As I predicted, this game went the distance. The wind made it difficult for Andrew and Lyle to hook up, and so Captain Hollywood had his say with a Callahan that put the Navy Blue Soothsayers on their heels. Showkiller got a D and a score as well, but Soothsayer just wouldn’t check into the Smackdown Hotel and die. Down by 4, Cari, Leathers, and Emily made their plays and battled back to knot it up at 11s. The cap was then called, making it a race to 12. Soothsayer pulled down wind, and both sides turned it several times, with Ds and bad throws for both teams. The game was finally decided when the Blue Flying Dutchman laid out for the game-winner. Ouch. Final: 12-11, Soothsayer (Navy).

#8 Team 2 Carolina Blue (0-2) vs. #4 Team 3 Purple (1-1)

Carolina Blue received a present today from the FLTC elves. The gift: Dustin- a well known master disc-ninja handler extraordinaire. Team 3, though, was not defenseless, with Joel making his first Fall League appearance in pretty Purple. Blades of Glory was looking for a win and turned to Captain Nathan, who kept things respectable. Unfortunately, rookie mistakes and the power of Purple with Kristen, Wes, and the young guns Adam and Ian- kept Carolina down. Final: 13-7, Purple People Eaters.
