Showkiller’s Weekly Review, Part II

3:30 PM Games

#5 Team 1 Orange (1-2) vs. #2 Team 7 Green (3-0)

After losing their first game of the day, Orange knew that their day wasn’t going to get any easier against Mean Green. With no Travis or Tim, Captain Sara would need some other citrus to step up. Mimmo and Kink were confident, since Laura, Evan, and Huseyin had all been playing great. But something was wrong, and the missing players (AB and Schmidtty) hurt the Green effort. Sunny Delight then turned to Ashton to handle, while Miguel threaded the needle with some great passes that eventually found Ken in the endzone. Final: 13-8, Big Bright Orange.

#7 Team 8 Gold (1-2) vs. #3 Team 5 Red (1-2)

With the close loss still on the minds of Pre-emptive Christmas, Goldy-locks took full advantage and broke out the zone. Gold was hot, Red was not, and so the 8s took half at 7-5. Hollywood, though, called for a re-write. Pre-emptive Christmas then came roaring back with scores to TB and CC, while Allison and Julie helped control the middle of the field. Gold and the young Captains, with the help of Denyce and Keith, tried to hang on, but the victory slowly slipped away. Final: 13-11, Pre-emptive Christmas (Red).

#6 Team 6 Gray (1-2) vs. #4 Team 3 Purple (2-1)

Coming into this game, Gray was hurting and Purple was on fire. The problem: Matchups. Purple, with Kristin and Terri’s great play, easily went up 5-1. The Grays, though, didn’t like that song and came back with a few scores of their own. Unfortunately for Gray, however, they ran out of quarters. The magic was gone, and all Silvia could do was sing a lullaby. Final: 13-4, the Preposterously Proud Purple.

#1 Team 4 Navy (3-0) vs. #8 Team 2 Carolina Blue (0-3)

Blades of Glory (2), was still looking to turn their ship around, but had to go through the buzzsaw of the undefeated (and stacked?) Soothsayers (Navy). Carolina got off to a rough start with multiple unforced errors. It then went from bad to worse, with young Nick twisting his ankle while trying to D a short and stationary Mike. From the Showkiller: Get well soon Nick. After that, Nathan was able to settle his troops down and got great performances out of Eddie and Ponz, as well as Britta and Jack. Still, Soothsayer had too much firepower. Nick Dunn ran hard, while young Dan played like an animal (another Danimal). Final: 13-10, Soothsayer (Navy).
