Winners of A bracket get championship discs!
Winners of B bracket get championship discs!
Pizza and BEvERages at 3pm on April 6th.
All 2pm playoff games will be capped. All 3pm playoff games
will be capped but will have more time than the 2pm games.
When softcap horn blows, finish the point, then after it's finished
add 2 to the highest score.
Example 1, Orange is playing Blue, 8 to 8, the 17th point of the game
is in progress as the horn blows. They'll finish the point, one team
will then have 9 points. So it'll be a game to 11 (or until the hard
cap horn blows).
Example 2, Orange is playing Blue, 8 to 8, Blue has the disc and is
about to pull, the horn sounds. Technically the 17th point has
started so it's just like Example 1, Blue will pull and finish the
point, one team will then have 9 points. So again it'll be a game to
11 (or until the hard cap horn blows). Note that it is NOT a game to
10, because the 17th point must be finished (the 17th point starts the
moment the 16th point is scored and includes all the prepull time).
Playoff Ranking notes
The league format was designed to make games in the 1st part of the season count more than the 2nd.
An A and B pool were created using the results from the full round robin in the 1st part of the season. By design, A pool teams would be ranked 1, 2 or 3 going into the playoffs and B pool teams 4, 5 and 6.
The pools were ranked using a slightly modified version of the UPA pool rankings. The only modification was an addition of a rule between 2 and 3, where cross overgames were considered.
Rule 1. A given tie-breaker rule applies equally to all the teams that are tied.
Rule 1a. If, after the application of a given rule, all of the
teams are still tied, go to the next rule. For an example of this
application, see Example 3.3.
Rule 1b. If not all teams, but one or more subgroups of the teams
are tied, separate these teams into groups and go back to rule 2
with each of the groups individually. For an example of this
application, see Example 3.2.
Rule 2. Won-loss records, counting only games between the teams that
are tied.
LEAGUE RULE 2.5 Cross over games
Rule 3. Point differentials, counting only games between the teams
that are tied.
In Pool A, all teams had an A-pool record of 1-1, so Rule 2 does has all 3 tied. All A-pool teams lost crossover games so all 3 teams are still tied. Rule 3 has White with a non negative point differential (against the A-Pool teams (in A pool play, not including the first part of the round robin season)) while Grey and Royal are tied (at negative 4). So appling Rule 3, White is 1st while Grey and Royal are still tied. Applying rule 1b, Grey and Royal need to be ranked by starting over. Grey beat Royal (in A pool play) so Rule 2 ranks Grey over Royal.
In Pool B rankings are easier. Black beat both Navy and Red in B pool play, so Black is ranked as the top team from pool B. Navy beat Red in B pool play, so Navy is ranked 2nd in the B pool.
