Show Killer - Week 6th, March 16th.

This was the final week of pool play for the amateurs, which means
that it's almost time for the elites to make their appearance! Like
the Great Pumpkin, will we see Skool and Tim come around for the
playoffs? My guess: probably not.

The brackets, reportedly, are mostly set. The first round should look
something like this:

#1 Bishops Grey (5-2) - BYE
#2 Knights* Royal (4-3) - BYE
#3 Kings White (4-3) vs. #6 Queens Red (2-5)
#4 Pawns Black (4-3) vs. #5 Rooks Navy (3-4)
---
Next Round:

Bishops V. Winner(Kings/Queens)

Knights V. Winner (Pawns/Rooks)

* Rumor has it that the Czar will punish his able lieutenant (for
being so able) and make the Knights the 3 seed behind the Kings (who
  they beat twice!)

** Remember no games this Sunday March 23rd Easter.

** Playoffs start Sunday March 30th 2 PM.

** Brackets, as of this point, are UNCONFIRMED.

Recaps for Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Weather: Warm conditions, 82 degrees, with little to no wind from the South.

Fields were set North/South on the old Frostbreaker fields.

3 PM Games

Field 1: Queens (Puyanna's) (2-4) vs. Rooks (Bike Gang) (2-4)

The Bikes had the whole chain gang out this week, with the exception
of Square (Chris C). Reportedly, he had emergency appendix surgery or
something minor like that. The Bikes- naturally- dedicated this game
to Square. But, would this help break their losing streak? The Reds,
on the other hand, were short handed and decided to not dedicate the
game to anyone. It was no surprise then, when the Queens found
themselves at the bottom of a very deep hole. Like Batman, a late
Travis showed up to try and stop the Reds from bleeding out. Did he
make it in time? No. No he didn't. It was too little, too late as
the Bikes cruised. Final: 15-11, The Navy Blue Bike Clan.

Field 2: Knights (Kink)(3-3) vs. Kings (Ted/Jill) (4-2)

This was a crucial game for both teams. At stake was a first round
bye in the playoffs. There was no Ted for the Kings, but Jill was
there to keep things in order. Against the zone, the Whites were able
to take advantage with their height by making multiple breaks against
the cup. At half, the game was on serve with the Kings up one. The
Knights then stumbled out of half (think Mike) and were down by two.
The Whites were using the JBS to perfection as they received the pull
at 14-14. Three turns and a nice flick from Jia though, toppled the
Kings. Final: 15-14, The Royal Blue Knights.

Field 3: Bishops (Switzer/Brandon) (5-1) vs. Pawns (YYY) (3-3)

Not much to report here. The Bishops could only scrape up 3 warm
bodies. Forfiet and scrimmage to 15.

That is a wrap on the regular season. See ya in 2 weeks for the
playoffs. In case you forgot, Showkiller lives for the playoffs.
